Meet Akanksha Patel
Recreation Therapy, 2021
Akanksha Patel is a graduate of the Recreation Therapy program and also holds a Bachelor in Physiotherapy from her home country. She currently works as a Therapeutic Recreationist at Idlewyld Manor in Hamilton. Akanksha feels extremely grateful for the opportunity to study at Mohawk College as it contributed in a big way to her career building and personal growth. She wants graduating students to know that there will be ups and downs in this beautiful journey, but to never give up and give your best shot every time.

Tara King: Making a Change

In 2017, Tara King ’20 was examining her life, wanting to make a change for herself and her family.
Tara was interested in pursuing a career in social service work because she knew how it felt to seek that community help and wanted to give back, having previous experiences with depression and being six years sober at the time.
